Membership in the DAR depends upon reliable proof of descendancy from a patriot of the American Revolution. The patriot can be either an established patriot (who can be found in the DAR Patriot Index) or a new patriot (whose qualifying service must be proven).

How to get started

One of the first things you can do to get started on your genealogy is to gather vital records (birth, marriage, and or death if applicable) of the first few generations that will prove your lineage.

What to do next

When you are ready, contact us. We can also provide some assistance with your genealogy. Contact our Registrar.
