April 24-27, 2014
117th Pennsylvania State Conference: Philadelphia Chapter Regent Elizabeth Campbell, Corresponding Secretary Joanne Harris, and Chapter Manager Maureen Sabia attended the 117 Annual Pennsylvania State Society DAR Conference in Pittsburgh, PA. They joined over 300 women from all corners of the commonwealth.
At the Saturday business meeting, Elizabeth Campbell read the chapter regent's report. Also, Joanne Harris attended the State Officers Dinner and a private meeting with the President General. Maureen Sabia was Personal Page to the Alabama State Regent Connie Grund. Maureen Sabia will be paging at the 123rd NSDAR Continental Congress in Washington, DC in June 2014.
Also in attendance were: Lynn Forney Young (DAR President General), Jennie Rehnberg (Curator General), Martha Hilton (Washington, DC Honorary State Regent and Past Vice-President General), Connie Grund (Alabama State Regent), Martha Crapser (New York State Regent), and Sandra McCann (Ohio State Regent).

April Chapter Meeting: Carole Bishop presented the program "Female Army Uniforms 1973-2004" at the April meeting of the Philadelphia chapter, which was held at Gwynedd Estates in Ambler, PA. Ms. Bishop, who is retired from the United States Army, is a member of the Bux-Mont Women Veterans Association. Additionally, the chapter gave a $50 donation to Ms. Bishop for her veterans organization.

Valley Forge Spring Luncheon: Chapter regent Liz Campbell attended Valley Forge Chapter’s Spring Luncheon at Copperfield Inn in Limerick, PA. Over fifty Daughters and prospectives raised more than $1,000 for the State Regent’s project. Entertainment was provided by The Dogs of Faulkner Swamp.

DE/PA Sunday Prayer Service: At Washington Memorial Chapel in Valley Forge, a prayer service was held by the state societies of Delaware and Pennsylvania.

SAR/DAR Constitution Week Luncheon: The Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) held a joint luncheon with DAR celebrating Constitution Week. This 44th annual luncheon was held at the Doubletree Hilton in Valley Forge, PA.

New Officer Installation: At the chapter's annual meeting, our chapter swore in its officers for the next three-year term. The ceremony was conducted by Patricia Coyne (Southeastern District Director), who also lauded the chapter's activity and innovation, and welcomed our chapter's newest crop of prospective members.

PA State Annual Meeting: The Pennsylvania State Society Daughters of the American Revolution (PSSDAR) held its annual meeting at the Doubletree Hilton in King of Prussia, PA from April 25th to April 27th. In attendance at the meeting was Philadelphia Chapter Regent Elizabeth Campbell and Maureen Sabia, who paged at the event.

Plaque Dedication: At Laurel Hill Cemetery in Philadelphia, our chapter met for the dedication of a plaque at the grave of former chapter member and Real Daughter Catherine Flournoy. Real Daughters are those whose fathers personally participated in the Revolutionary War.

National Defense Month: In observance of National Defense Month, speakers at our February 9 meeting brought an inspirational message on Building Better Citizens through the work of the United States Army's Junior Officer Training Corps (JROTC). The program includes both male and female high school students in the school district of Philadelphia. The meeting was held at Wyndham Alumnae House in Bryn Mawr.

Annual Christmas Meeting and Party: Philadelphia Chapter held its Christmas meeting and party on Wednesday, December 8, 2010, at Wyndham Alumnae House on Bryn Mawr College campus. Members enjoyed an exceptionally beautiful Christmas concert by the Madrigals and Madriguys, a singing group consisting of students of the Shipley School. Their conductor, Robert Rowland, selected Christmas music spanning four centuries, including popular carols sung during the era of the American Revolution. Following the concert, members enjoyed a delicious luncheon.

The Veterans Day Celebration: This event was our chapter's annual benefit for scholarships and educational projects. The luncheon and bazaar was held at Whitemarsh Valley Country Club, featuring music from American wars performed by the Fiddlesticks.
